Portland to Coast
The months flew by and we all trained. I walked in the morning with friends and did some other things on my own.
Before I know it it was the end of August and time for the walk. My anticipation and anxiety skyrocketed. I knew that I could walk the distances I was assigned, I just wasn't sure about the whole experience.
I was the first walker at 3:45 Friday morning. We were off. Each of us in Van 1 (suck it van 2) took our turn walking and then we handed off to the ladies in Van 2. While we were waiting to meet up with them again to start our second legs we chilled at a resting spot in Mist, Oregon. We had a blast! Rex somehow found us and brought us Subway! What a great husband. His real intention was to show the kids what was going on and make them a part of it, we were just hungry so he made a Subway run for us!
We finished our second legs around 1:30 Saturday morning so we had some down time. We were all starving, so once the wonderful women at the KOA let us shower (bless her heart, we all stunk) we found a little hole in the wall restaurant in Seaside called Grandma's Kitchen. It was sooo good! We ate and then headed to the beach to meet up with the rest of the team to finish together.
Amanda and I had a great time. I am glad she decided to join us. It was fun spending time with her before she went back to school. She really rocked her legs!
Rex and the kids met us at the beach. We stayed and played for a few hours. The truth is they played and I watched. Walking and being up for over 30 hours made mama not a lot of fun!
