So finally a post about Easter. It has taken me forever I know.
This year Easter Morning and General Conference coincided. It was a great morning. The kids slept in, and because we are DVR junkies we didn't miss any of Conference.
(as usual, Hudson fell a few days before a holiday and messed up his face. I think it happens everytime)
We have a tradition in our family to get new pajamas for each General Conference, this worked out well for pictures on Easter morning! (make mom smile when they look cute in the pictures)
This was the first year that Hudson actually searched for eggs. Brody showed him that there was candy inside and that was it! He was a egg-finding machine! Each time he found one he would squat down, make a funny face and shake the egg to ensure it was full! I am not going to post pictures of it, as it is post worthy on it's own!
Each of the kids got an Easter basket full of candy and goodies, plus a binder. The binder was full of art supplies and activities for Sacrament Meeting.
We had a big family breakfast, ate lots of candy and listened to Conference. All-in-all it was a pretty lazy day. We had a ham and turkey dinner in the evening. Is there anything better than a day bookended with huge meals? I think not!
Having Conference on Easter morning was wonderful. For those of you that don
't know what General Conference is, twice a year on the first weekends of April and October the general leaders of our church address us from Salt Lake. It is broadcast on cable and the Internet. It is a time to learn and be instructed by Apostles of God. We are very fortunate to have attended in Salt Lake in years past, but being at home with family is a great opportunity. This year to keep the kids attention I made packets with cartoon pictures of each of the speakers and word finds, and we played "Conference Bingo". Each square has a word in it, and if one of the speakers says the word you put a marshmallow on it. Then whom ever gets a row first wins. Just like regular Bingo. We had a blast, and the kids actually did listen.
